What was jewish response to British occupying power
Most Jewish groups, even Irgun, supported the British in their attempts to defeat Germany. However, a small group led by Abraham Stern-Yair argued that ‘the enemy is the own who rules in your country’.
British treated members of this group as war criminals and used torture and assassinations to defeat them.
What was Arabs Response?
Arabs also tried to work with British.

Before war ended, Arab League of 12 nations created with British support and the British reaffirmed their desire to limit Jewish immigration.
Effect of Holocaust (Shoah)
refugees who survived Nazi concentration camps tried to enter Palestine but British continued to honour promise to Arabs and forced ships back.
Britain only added to horror that Jews faced and support grew in Western world for a Jewish homeland.

November 1945, British proposed Anglo-American Committee of Enquiry into situation. They recommended to allow 10 000 Jews to emigrate but Britain refused to accept it.
