A
A list of future income and expenditure.

- Expected income and expenditure of the country.
- Drawn up by Minister of Finance.
- Describes how much money government hopes to earn and how this money will be spent.

A
Planned income exceeds planned expenditure.

A
Planned expenditure exceeds planned income.

What is government revenue?
A
- Government collects money through tax.
- Everybody pays tax.
- There are different kinds of tax.

What is direct tax?
A
Tax levied on the income or profit of person or business.
- Personal income tax.
- Company tax.
- Capital gains tax.

What is indirect tax?
A
Tax levied on goods and services.
- Excise tax (“sin tax”)
- Customs duties
- Value Added Tax (VAT) - currently 14%

A
Government must spend tax to improve our country and to deliver essential services to citizens. Money should be spend on:
- Education
- Housing
- Social grants
- Transport
- Security

The way in which government uses the budget to influence the economy.
