Elohim
El means mighty, strong, and powerful. Elohim is the plural of majesty.
El-Elyon
Means the Most High God. There is no other god who can compare to God.
El Shaddai
The all-sufficient God. Shad refers to a nursing mother. This also shows that He is self-existent and that in Him alone can we find everything that we need.
Elohim Sabaoth
The God of hosts/Armies
Emanuel
God is with us. God is not a passive and distant God. He is present amongst His people.
YHWH
I am that I am. The Hebrews had so much respect for this name that whenever a scribe writes His name, they need to do so with a new writing implement. The name Adonai is mentioned instead of Yhwh. Adon menas lord and Adonai is the plural form. “ I will be what I will be”.
