Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy.
What are the signs of NAAION related to visual acuity (VA)?
Visual acuity may vary widely; if no light perception (NLP), suspect AAION.
What visual field defects are associated with NAAION?
Altitudinal defects, Quadrantic defects.
What is RAPD and when does it occur in NAAION?
Relative Afferent Pupillary Defect (RAPD) occurs if the contralateral eye is normal.
What optic disc finding is common in NAAION?
Optic disc oedema, usually hyperaemic.
What is the primary symptom of NAAION?
Acute, painless unilateral visual loss.
What is the first step in managing NAAION?
Emergency referral to ophthalmology.
Is there an effective treatment for NAAION?
There is currently no effective treatment for NAAION.
