what is a caput succedaneum
significant swelling of the soft tissues of the baby’s scalp
often in babies delivered by vacuum
Usually goes away in a few days
What is a Cephalohematoma
- area of bleeding between the skull bone and its fibrous covering.
- often appears several hours after birth
- 2 weeks to 3 months to reduce
- if large, can cause jaundice as blood is broken down
WHat is the most common birth fracture
clavicle - soft lump forms within 10 days. movement may be limited by pain
how long would you expect a subconjunctival haemorrhage to last?
Blood is usually resorbed within 7-10days
