A

significant swelling of the soft tissues of the baby’s scalp
often in babies delivered by vacuum
Usually goes away in a few days

What is a Cephalohematoma

A
  • area of bleeding between the skull bone and its fibrous covering.
  • often appears several hours after birth
  • 2 weeks to 3 months to reduce
  • if large, can cause jaundice as blood is broken down
