When should you implement lost procedures?
When you are not able to determine your position.
What should you write down when you first determine you are lost?
Time and heading when first determine you are lost.
What are the three C’s?
Climb, conserve, confess
How can you conserve fuel?
Fly max endurance airspeed based on AOA indications (approximately 125 KIAS)
What agencies can you contact for help?
ATC, FSS, SOF, other A/C. Also setting transponder to 7700 will help alert ATC
What is an FSS?
A flight service station. It provides flight data via radio or telephone. It does not have radar equipment!
What should be in the distress call if lost?
“PAN, PAN, PAN!”
Call sign and emergency type
What are some ways to reorient yourself while in flight?
1) . Landmarks outside
2) . GPS
3) . Two VORs and what radials on for each
How can you find a suitable airfield?
Visually or with GPS NRST function
