Management:

What is given to replace thyroid hormones?

Why are steroids prescribed?

A

T3 IV - liothyronine

Patients presenting with myxedema coma/crisis may have adrenal insufficiency, and stress doses of IV steroids must be administered along with initial thyroid replacement until the adrenal function has been determined to be normal.
