1) life after death - know way of finding out unless experience it - but not that mysterious anymore more than North Korea - could know if guardians of world would permit it 2) no life after death - death is total annihiliation so dead don’t know what it is like as don’t exist - therefore not mysterious as there is nothing that it’s like to be dead - just lose consciousness in same way as sleep 3)some mystery but no profound one

1) Freud/Goethe argument I) only possible to imagine situation in which one is present and conscious ii) no one is present and conscious when dead iii)thus no one can imagine being dead iv)if its impossible for anyone to imagine a certain condition, then no can believe that they will be in that condition v)thus no can believe they will die 2) but - can never believe there was a time before we existed by this logic 3)something right that can’t imagine own death - can’t imagine inside but doesn’t follow that we can’t believe in death in same as we can’t believe in sleep

Never possible to think correctly that I am now dead in same way as ‘I do not exist’ or ‘i am now asleep’2) still possible to think that I am going to die
