Myofascial Release II Flashcards

1
Q

Direct/ Indirect Thoracolumbar MFR

A
  • Introduce myofascial stress

(clockwise/counterclockwise motions)

  • Engage barriers

(sidebending, rotation, flexion, extension)

Q

Prone Regional Thoracic Direct or Indirect MFR

A

(Prone)

  • hands on bilateral sides of thoracic spine
  • put area under myofascial stress

(clockwise right hand, counter clockwise left hand)

  • engage barriers

(sidebending, rotation, flexion, extension)

Activating forces: inhalation/exhalation, leg extension/flexion, arm abduction/adduction

Q

Lower Thoracic Under Shoulder

A

(Lateral Recumbent)

  • Forearms in contact with axilla and iliac crest
  • Elbows spread apart, elongating distance between shoulder and hip
  • Move muscles laterally
  • Pt breathes deeply

Q

Hamstring Hypertonicity SD & ME/MFR

A
  • pt supine
  • Stabilize at contralateral ASIS with one hand
  • other hand grasps leg above ankle, flexes at hip until FASCIAL barrier is reached
  • pt is instructed to push leg downward towards floow against resistance
