my q's: aminoglycoside antimicrobials Flashcards

1
Q

General info

A
  • bacteriocidal (inhibit the growth of bacteria)
  • MOA: enters through cell wall, bind to ribosomes, leading to transcription of incorrect proteins while also opening membrane pores to allow more aminoglycosides to enter
  • highly ionised, not good oral absorption

NOT used in food production animals
