Surgical Anesthesia
Plane 1: eyelid & swallowing reflexes disappear; straight gaze
Plane 2: loss of corneal & laryngeal reflexes; halted optical movements loss of lacrimation
Plane 3: complete relaxation of intercostal muscles, loss of pupil response to light
“TRUE SURGICAL ANESTHESIA”
Plane 4: irregular respirations, paradoxical respiratory movements; diaphragm paralysis

Impending CV collapse
Nitrous Oxide is contraindicated in:
- pregnancy
- air cavity procedures
If nitrous oxide is used via ETT
remember the cuff will ↑ inflation
