Remixing (Key Terms)
BPM
Beats per minute. It indicates how many consistent pulse beats there are in a song. This can then be used to describe the difference between a fast song (high BPM e.g. 120BPM) and a slow song (low BPM e.g. 60BPM).
Automation
Volume adjustments on each track within a remix.
Computers, Digital Audio
DAW
Digital Audio Workstation. A computer software which can be used to create, produce, edit and master music.
Fill
A very small instrumental section that is heard as a transition between sections of the song.
Loop
Where a sample is repeated several times straight after you hear it the first time.
Remixing
A new/ different version of an existing song that is made.
Texture
Different layers in a piece of music.
