Breaks through the skin, will be high risk for osteomyelitis a severe bone infection

Pathological
Caused by disease process
Osteoporosis
Decreased bone mass that often occurs in middle aged women
Treatment: hormone replacement therapy, increased calcium, weight bearing exercise, weight loss
Scoliosis
Deviation of spine to side
Treatment: brace surgery
Lordosis
Excessive curvature of lumber spine (swayback)
Treatment: surgery may be used
Kyphosis
Excessive curvature of thoracic spine (hunch back)
Treatment: bracing
Osteoarthritis
Wear and tear on joints causing pain, stiffness, swelling
Treatment: medical treatment with anti inflammatory drugs, assist ice devices, exercise, joint replacement
Rheumatoid arthritis
Stiffness, swelling and pain in joint due to autoimmune disorder
Treatment: medical treatment and drug therapy acupuncture
Bursitis
Swelling of the fluid sac cushioning joint
Treatment: avoiding pressure in joint, medication, aspiration
Gout
Collection of Uric acid crystals in joint causing pain and swelling
Treatment: low purine diet, allopurinol
