Grip Strength
A
- Adjust dynamometer appropriately to fit the client’s hand
- Marker on the wall
- Hold dynamometer with the forearm at level of thigh, away from body
- Squeeze while exhaling

Push Ups
A
Inform client:
- No time limit, as many as they can do
- Not count repetitions with improper technique
- Exhale during upward phase of push up
- 1-2 practice repetitions for proper form
Test:
- Lie on stomach, legs together
- Hands pointed forward, positioned under the shoulders
- Focus on floor as they complete each push up
- Chin touches the mat in the down position, stomach and thighs do not touch mat
- Repeat as many times as possible with no time limit
- Encourage client to breathe

Sit and Reach
A
- modified hurdler’s stretch to warm up (twice each leg, holding for 20 seconds)
Test:
- Client sits on floor with legs extended, without shoes
- Feet placed flat against flexometer
- Inner edge of soles 6 inches apart
- Legs fully extended, arms evenly stretched with palms down and hands together
- Pushing sliding marker with fingertips as far as possible, slowly
- Hold position for 2 seconds
- Knees must not flex

Forearm plank protocol
A
- Demonstrate proper technique
- Elbows in contact with ground beneath shoulders, forearms neutral, feet narrow but not touching
- Time starts when client raises the pelvis

One-Leg Stance
A
- Client stands barefoot behind or beside a chair on a flat floor surface
- Hands crossed on shoulders
- Client chooses leg to balance on, lifting other foot so that it is near but not touching the ankle
- Focus on a marker on the wall
- Time ends:
o Arms move
o Raised foot is moved
o Weight-baring foot is moved
o 45 sec have passed
