Muscular system Flashcards

1
Q

What are the functions of the muscular system?

A

1.To produce conscious movement
2. Maintain essential bodily functions e.g, your esophagus pushes food down to your stomach, these are all unconsciously done

Q

What is reciprocal inhibition?

A

It’s a system of movement where one muscle from a pair contracts to move
(agonist) while the other muscle relaxes so the other one can move (antagonist)

Q

How do muscles help us move?

A

It pulls on 1 of the 2 bones to contract
All muscle bridge a joint, and joint angle is altered when contraction occurs.

Q

What are the muscles we need to remember

A

Go to powerpoint and seqta and grab image because the free version of brainscape doesn’t allow me to place images here so I can’t put a labelled diagram.
