MUSCLES OF THE LOWER EXTREMITY P.159 Flashcards
Sciatic nerve passes through which muscle?
Piriformis
Where does the piriformis and sciatic nerve pass through?
greater sciatic notch
What are the 6 lateral rotators of the hip?
piriformis, superior gemellus, inferior gemellus, obturator internus, obturator externus, quadratus femoris (also gluteus maximus)
What are the 3 medial rotators of the hip?
TFL, gluteus minimus, gluteus medius
What is Gerdy’s tubercle?
it is the eponymous name for the lateral condyle of the proximal tibia (where it is located anterolaterally). It is where the iliotibial band and anterior tibialis muscle inserts.
Femoral artery is (medial/lateral) to iliopsoas.
medial
Femoral artery is medial to which muscle?
iliopsoas
List all hip flexors. (6)
