origin: dorsal illium, sacrum, coccyx, sacrotuberous ligament and illiac crest
insertion: gluteal tuberosity and illiotibial tract
innervation: inferior gluteal N.
action: hip extension, lateral rotation of the thigh
Gluteus Medius
origin: ilium, between anterior and posterior gluteal lines
insertion: greater trochanter of femur, anterior aspect
innervation: superior gluteal N.
action: stabilizaiton of pelvis during gait, abduction of thigh, medial rotation of thigh (ant. fibers)
Gluteus Minimus
origin: ilium, between anterior and inferior gluteal lines
insertion: greather trochanter of femur, anterior aspect
innervation: superior gluteal N.
action: stabilization of the pelvis during gait, abduction of thigh, medial rotation of thigh (ant. fibers)
Tensor Fascia Latae
origin: iliac crest, lateral aspect
insertion: iliotibial tract
innervation: superior gluteal N.
action: stabilization of the knee in extension, hip flexion (weak), abduction of thigh
