Muscles Of The Arm Flashcards
Biceps brachii origin
Radial tuberosity (flexes elbow joint as this attaches in the forearm)
Biceps brachii innervation
Musculocutaenous n (C5-6)
Biceps brachii action @ each joint
Shoulder: flexion, abduction and internal rotation, stability on of humeral head during deltoid contraction,
Elbow: flexion and supination
Brachialis origin
Humerus-distal 1/2 anterior surface
Brachialis insertion
Ulnar tuberosity
Brachialis innervation
Musculocutanenous n C5-6 and radial nerve C7-minor
Brachialis action
Flexion @ elbow
Triceps origin
Long head: infraglenioid tubercle of the scapula
Medial head: posterior humerus, inferior to radial groove, medial inter muscular septum
Lateral head: posterior humerus, proximal to radial groove, lateral intermuscular septum
Triceps insertion
Olecranon of ulna
Triceps innervation
Radial nerve C6-8
Action of triceps
@ elbow: extension
@shoulder: long head does extension and adduction
Aconeus origin
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Aconeus insertion
Olecranon of ulna-radial surface
Innervation of aconeus
Radial nerve C6-8
Action of aconeus
Extends the elbow and tightens joint
