Joints and ligaments of upper limb Flashcards
Acromioclavicular joint ligaments
Synovial joint-plane
Acromioclavicular ligament: superiorly btwn acromion/end of clavicle
Coracoclavicular ligament: extrinsic ligament, anchors clavicle to coracoid process. Trapezoid and Conoid ligaments make it up.
Between the acromion of scapula and lateral clavicle.
Scapulathoracic joint
The scapula glides and pivots over connective tissue between the subscapularis muscle and serratus anterior.
Sternoclavicular joint
Synovial joint saddle
Between sterna, end of clavicle and manubrium.
Movement: allows clavicle to elevate and rotate in conjunction with the limb.
What are the joints of the shoulder girdle?
Acromioclavicular (acromion and lateral clavicle)
Glenohumeral (glenioid cavity and humerus)
Sternoclavicular
& scapulathoracic “joint”(scapula glides on connective tissue btwn serratus ant. And the subscapularis)
