Muscles Of Post Abdominal Wall Flashcards
Insertion of psoas major
Strong tendon to lesser trochanter of femur
Origin of psoas manor
Transverse processes of lumbar vertebrae, sides of bodies of t12-s1 vertebrae and discs
Innervation of psoas major
Lumbar plexus via anterior branch of nerves L2-L4
Action of psoas major
Acting inferiorly with iliacus, flexes thigh, acting superiorly, flexes vertebral column laterally to balance the trunk, when sitting acts inferiorly with iliacus to flex trunk
Origin of iliacus
Superior two thirds of iliac fossa, ala of sacrum, and anterior sacro-iliac ligament
Insertion of iliacus
Lesser trochanter of femur and shaft inferior to it and to psoas major tendon
Innervation of iliacus
Femoral nerve L2-L4
Action of iliacus
Flexes thigh and stabilizes hip, acts with psoas major
Origin of quadratus lumborum
Medial half of inferior border of 12th rib and tios of lumbar transverse processes
Insertion of quadratus lumborum
Iliolumbar ligament and internal lip of iliac crest
Innervation of quadratus lomborum
Anterior branches of T12 and L1-L4
Action of quadratus lumborum
Extends and laterally flexes vertebral column, fixes 12th rib during inspriation
