Anterior Scalene Flashcards
Insertion of anterior scalene
1st rib
Origin of Anterior scalene
Transverse processes of C3-C6
Innervation of anterior scalene
Cervical spinal nerves C4-C6
Action of anterior scalene
Flexes neck laterally and elevates 1st rib during forced inspiration
Origin of latissimus dorsi
Spinous process of last 6 thoracic vertebra, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, inferior 3 or 4 ribs
Insertion of latissimus dorsi
Inter tubercle groove of humerus
Innervation of latissimus dorsi
Thoracodorsal nerve C6,C7,C8
Action of latissimus dorsi
Elevates, adducts, medically rotates shoulder joint; raises body towards arm during climbing
Origin of trapezius
Nuchal ligament, medial Nuchal line, EOP, spinous processes of C7-T12
Insertion of trapezius
Spine of scapula, acromion, lateral 3rd of clavical
Innervation of trapezius
Spinal accessory nerve CN11 and C3, C4 spinal nerves
Action of trapezius
Descending fibers: elevate scapula
Middle: retracts scapula
Ascending: depresses scapula
A+D: rotAte glenoid cavity superiorly
Origin of rhomboid major
Spinous processes of t2-t5
Origin of rhomboid minor
Nuchal ligament C7-T1
Insertion of rhomboid major
Medial border inferior to spine of scapula
Insertion of rhomboid minor
Medial end of scapular spine
Innervation of rhomboid
Dorsal scapular C4 and C5
Action of rhomboids
Retracts scapula and depresses glenoid cavity, fix scapula of thoracic wall
Origin of levator scapulae
Posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C1-C4
Insertion of levator scapulae
Medial border of the scapula superior to the spine
Innervation of levator scapulae
Dorsal scapular C5 and cervical C3 and 4
Action of levator scapulae
Elevates the scapula and tilts glenoid cavity inferiorly
Origin of splenius capitis and splenius cervicis
Nuchal ligament and spinous processes of C7-T6
Insertion of splenius capitis
Mastoid process and superior Nuchal line
Insertion of splenius cervicis
Tubercles of transverse processes C1-C4
Innervation of splenius capitis and cervicis
Posterior rami of spinal nerves
Action of splenius capitis
Unilateral: Rotates head to one side and laterally flex
Bilateral: extend head and neck
