Muscles of Mastication Flashcards
1
Q
What muscle is a prime mover of jaw closure?
A
Masseter, originating from the zygomatic arch & zygomatic bone to the angle & ramus of mandible.

Q
What muscle closes the jaw?

Medial pterygoid is synergist of masseter and temporalis to elevate mandible.
Lateral pterygoid protracts mandible.
