Scalenes, the anterior, middle, and posterior muscles originate on the transverse processes of vertebrae and insert anterolaterally on first two ribs.

Sternocleidomastoid (SCM), two-headed muscle deep to platysma, originating on manubrium & medial portion of clavicle and inserting in mastoid process of temporal bone & superior nuchal line of occipital bone.
