Muscles (O, I, A) P. 9-10 Flashcards
M. serratus ventralis
O:
> pars cervicis - Proc. transversus of C2-7
> pars thoracis - middle of ribs 1-8 (laterally)
I: Facies serrata on scapula
A: Supports trunk, helps at inspiration, carries shoulder cran. / caud. depending on position of forelimb
M. supraspinatus
O: Fossa supraspinata, margo cranialis, spina scapula
I: Tuberculum majus (humerus)
A: extensor of - and stabilizes shoulder
M. infraspinatus
O: Fossa infraspinata, margo caudalis, spina scapula
I: Facies m. infraspinati of humerus
A: Flexor of shoulder, acts as lateral collateral lig. of shoulder
M. deltoideus
O:
> pars scapularis - caudal edge of spina scapula
> pars acromialis (Ru, Car) - acromion
I: Tuberositas deltoidea (humerus)
A: Flexor of shoulder
M. teres minor
O: Distally on margo caudalis, tuberculum infraglenoidale (Car)
I: Tuberositas teres minor (laterally) of humerus
A: Flexor of shoulder
M. anconeus
O: Crista epicondylus lat. + around fossa olecrani
I: latero-prox. on olecranon (tuber olecrani, proc. anconeus)
A: Extensor of elbow joint
M. subscapularis
O: Fossa subscapularis
I: Tuberculum minus (humerus)
A: Flexor & extensor of shoulder + medial collateral lig. of shoulder joint
M. teres major
O: prox. on margo caud. + angulus caud. scapulae
I: Tuberositas teres major (humerus)
A: Flexor of shoulder
M. tensor fasciae antebrachii
O: Detaching from M. latissimus dorsi
I: medially on tuber olecrani, radiates into fascia antebrachii
A: tenses antebrachial fascia + extends elbow
M. triceps brachii
O:
> caput longum - distal 2/3 of margo caud.
> caput laterale - linea m. tricipitis
> caput mediale - proxomedial surface of humerus (near tuberositas teres major)
> caput acceccorium (Car) - caudally from collum humeri
I: Tuber olecrani
A: Extensor of elbow
~ Caput longum also flexes shoulder
M. coracobrachialis
O: Proc. coracoideus (on tuberculum supraglenoidale)
I: Crista tubercoli minoris (behind caput mediale of M. triceps brachii)
A: Extensor of shoulder
M. biceps brachii
O: Tuberculum supraglenoidale
(a transverse retinaculum fixes the tendon in sulcus intertubercularis)
I: Tuberositas radii et ulnae (just below proc. coronoideus med.)
A: Extends shoulder, flexes elbow
M. brachialis
O: Caudally on collum humeri
(it will twist laterally, then cranio-medially in sulcus m. brachialis)
I: Tuberositas radii et ulnae (just below proc. coronoideus med.)
A: Flexor of elbow
