Muscles (O, I, A) P. 18-19 Flashcards
M. tibialis cran.
O: Cran. margin of condylus lat. (tibia) + crista tibiae
I: Medial side of Os tarsi I + Mt. I-II
A: Flexes tarsus
M. peroneus longus
O: Cran. margin of condylus lat. (tibia), caput fibula, lig. collat. lat.
I: Os tarsi IV + all Mt. bones (plantar surface)
A: Flexes tarsus
M. peroneus brevis
O: Laterally on distal 3rd of fibula
I: Base of Mt. V
A: Flexes tarsus
M. ext. dig. longus
O: Fossa extensoria (on condylus lat. on femur)
I: Proc. extensorus on digits II-V
A: flexes tarsus, extends digits
M. ext. dig. lat.
O: Prox. 3rd of fibula
I: unites w/ M. ext. dig. longus to reach digit V
A: Extends and abducts digit V
M. ext. digiti I. longus
O: Middle 3rd of fibula
I: Digit II
A: Extends digit II (and I if it’s present)
M. gastrocnemius
O: Tuberositas supracondylaris med. et lat. (femur)
I: Tuber calcanei (part of common calcaneal tendon)
A: Flex stifle, extends tarsus
Tendo calcaneus communis
- 3 main tendond:
> Tendo m. gastrocnemii (name muscle)
> Tendo plantaris (name muscle)
> Tendo acceccorius (3 muscles, name them) - As tendo plantaris widens, forms galea calcanea
A: Strongest extensor of tarsus
M. flex. dig. superf.
O: Fossa supracondylaris (femur), partly fused w/ M. gastrocnemius caput lat.
I: ~ Tendo plantaris turns from med. to lat. direction around tendo calcaneus communis.
~ On the surface of tuber calcanei it makes a cap (galea calcanea).
~ Then finally attaches to digits II-V as manica flexoria (plantar surface)
A: Flex stifle, extends tarsus (hock), flex joints of digits II-V
M. tibialis caud.
O: Caudally on caput fibula
I: Medially on tarsus (radiates into tarsal fascia)
A: Extends tarsus
M. popliteus
O: Fossa m. poplitei (on condylus lateralis on femur)
I: Linea m. poplitei (Caudally on prox. part of tibia)
A: Flex stifle & pronates leg (moves it med.)
M. flex. dig. prof.
O:
> M. flex. dig. lat. - prox. caud. half of fibula, caudolateral border of tibia, and from interosseus membrane
> M. flex. dig. med. - Caudo-proximally from tibia
!!They unite below tarsus!!
I: Tuberculum flexorium of digits II-V, plantar surface (and digit I, if present?)
A: Extends tarsus, flex joints of digits II-V (and digit I, if present?)
