Extends from the temple region at the side of the head to the mandible.
Raises the jaw and draws it backwards as in chewing
What are the 3 muscles that move the head?
Sternocleidomastoid

Where is the Sternocleidomastiod and what is it’s function?
Runs from the sternum to the clavicle bone and the temporal bone, runs down the side of the front of the neck.
Flexes the neck and lowers the head
Where is the occipitalis muscle and what is it’s function?
Covers the back and base of the skull.
Draws the scalp backwards
Where are the pictorials major and what is their function?
Across the upper chest (underneath the breasts) from the clavicle, sternum and rubs to the top of the humerus, forming the front wall of the axilla.
Used in throwing and climbing to adduct the arm, drawing it forward and rotating it medially
Where is the pectorals minor and what is it’s function?
Underneath the major. It’s origin is the 3rd 4th and 5th ribs and it inserts into the outer corner of the scapular.
Draws the shoulders downwards and forwards.
