What is Lymph?
A straw coloured fluid , derived from blood plasma which has filtered through the walls of the capillaries…. it becomes Lymph once it enters the lymphatic vessels
What are Lymph vessels ?
Similar and run close to veins forming an extensive network throughout the body
What are Lymph nodes?
Small oval structures between 1mm and 25mm in length. They are the storage and filtering areas of the lymphatic system, they filter Lymph in order to prevent infection
What is the function of the Buccal group of lymph nodes?
Drains the eyelids, the nose and the skin in the face
What is the function of the mandibular group of lymph nodes?
Drains the chin, the lips, the nose and the cheeks
What is the function of the mastoid group of lymph nodes?
Drains the skin of the ear and temple area
What is the function of the occipital group of lymph nodes?
Drains the back of the scalp and upper back
What is the function of the submental group of lymph nodes?
Drains the chin and lower lip
What is the function of the parotid group of lymph nodes?
Drains the nose, eyelids and ears
