Muscles If the Arm Flashcards
Biceps brachii
Origin: long head supraglenoid tubercle runs through the intertubercular groove through the shoulder joint
Short head: Corocoid process
Insertion: the two muscles join to form single muscle mass which attach to the radial tuberosity the other into the ante brachial facsia
Innervation musculocutaneous nerve
Function
Flex ion elbow, supinate arm
Brachialis
Origin: lower half of the humerus just below deltoid insertion
Insert: Coronoid process and tubercle of ulna
Innervation: musculocutaneous radial
Function: flexion as does not insert into radius nil function in supination
Corcobrachialis
Origin: Corocoid process
Insertion medial surface of the body of the humerus
Innervation: musculocutaneous
Function: flex and adduct arm
Triceps brachii
Origin: long head infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Medial head: posterior humerus distal to grove for radial nerve
Lateral head: proximal and lateral to the groove for radial nerve from greater tubercle
Insertion: olecranon process
Innervation: radial nerve
Function: extend forearm, fixate the elbow joint for fine movement
The long head of triceps is the most important factor in stabilizing the abducted shoulder joint to counteract gravity
Aconeous
Origin: lateral epicondyle of he humerus
Insertion: proximal posterior ulna
Innervation: radial nerve
Function extension of elbow
