Muscles- anterior compartment Flashcards

1
Q

Pronator Teres

A

O- humeral head –> medial epicondyle and supraepicondylar ridge of the humerus
ulnar head –> medial side of corned process of ulna
I- roughening on lateral surface, mid shaft of radius
I- median nerve C6,7
A- pronates forearm
assists elbow flexion
Least effective if elbow is fully flexes die to passive insufficiency

Q

Flexor Carpi Radialis

A

O- medial epicondyle of humerus via the common flexor tendon
I- palmar surface of bases of metacarpals 2 and 3
I- medial nerve C6,C7
A- flexes the wrist but must work with Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
abduction
assits pronation
fusi form muscle- increased R0m but little power

Q

Palmaris Longus

A

O- medial epicondyle of humerus
I- flexor retinaculum and apex of palmar aponeurosis
I- median nerve C7,C8
A- weak wrist flexion because the palmar aponeurosis anchors skin of the hand
Tightens palmar fascia

Q

Flexor Digitorum Superficialis

A

O- humeri-ulnar head –> medial epicondyle of humerus and adjacent margin of coronoid process
radial head –> oblique line of upper 2/3 anterior border of radius
I- four tendons which attach to the palmar surface of middle phalanx of each finger
I- median nerve C6,7,8,T1
A- flexion a wrist, MCP and PIP joints

Q

Flexor Carpi Ulnaris

A

O- humeral head –> medial epicondyle of humerus
ulnar head –> olecranon and posterior border of ulna
I- pisiform bone
via pisohamae and pisometacarpal ligaments into the hamate and base of 5th metacarpal
I- ulnar nerve C7,C8
A- flexion and adduction at the wrist joint
Synergist act in abduction of digit5

Q

Flexor Digitorum Profundus

A

O- anterior and medial surfaces of ulna and anterior medial Hal of interoseous membrane
I- four tendons attach to the palmar surfaces of the distal phalanges of each finger
I- medial half is supplied by the ulna there C8,T1
lateral hal is supplied by the anterior interosseous nerve C7-8, T1
A- flexion of DIP joint, PIP, MCP and wrist joint
