Muscles Flashcards
Shoulder girdle muscles
Pectoralis minor
Organ - anterior surface of the 3rd to 5th rib
Insertion -coronoid process of the scapula
Action -down rotation depression
Innervation- C8-T1 medial pectoral nerve
Serratus anterior
Origin - deso-lateral surface of the upper 9 ribs
Insetion - anterior aspect of the medial border of the scapula
Action - protraction rotation a Board
Innervation C5 to C7 (long thoracic nerve)
Subclavius
Origin- superior aspect of the first rib
Insertion- inferior groove, mid portion of the clavicle
Function- stabilizes and protects sternoclavicular joint, clavicular depression
Innovation - C5 to 6
Spinal vertebrae landmarks
Trapezius
Origin- 3 segments: from occiput to spinous process C1-T2
Insertion- 3 segments : clavicle, omicron, scapular spine
Action- elevation, upper rotation, depression, abduction
Rhomboids: Major and minor
Origin- minor: spinous processes C6,7 Major: spinous processes T1-4
Insertion- medial border of the scapula above and below spine scapula
Action- adduction, down rotation , elevation
Legator Scapula
Origin- transverse process C1-C4
Insertion- medial border of the scapula above spinal scapula
Action- elevates the medial border of the scapula
Glenohumeral joint muscles
Pectoralis major
Origin - medial half anterior surface clavicle anterior surface, coastal Cartlidge six ribs plus sternum
Insertion - intertubercular groove of the humerus
Faction - internal rotation , horizontal adduction, abduction of the glenohumeral joint, flexion (upper) extension (lower)
Caracobrachialis
Origin - coracoid process
Insertion- middle medial border of humerus
Action - flextion, abduction, horizontal adduction
Subscapularis
Origin - anterior surface of the scapular fossa
Insertion- raps around front of humourous to the lesser tubercle
Action - internal rotation, adduction, flexion/extension
Function - stabilization (RC)
Deltoid
Origin- 3 branches: anterior clavicle , Acromion, inferior edge of spine of scapula
Insertion - deltoid tuberosity
Action abduction, either flexion or extension, either horizontal adduction or abduction, either internal or External rotation
Superaspinatus
Origin- supraaspinatus fossa ( between college bone)
Insertion -greater tubercle
Action - initates abduction
Function - stabilization (RC)
Latissimus dorsi
Origin-
Insertion- medial side/ floor intertubercal
Action- adduction, extension, internal rotation, horazontial abdcution
