Muscle Tissue Flashcards
Everything
Function of muscle tissue
Allows our bodies to move
What is skeletal muscle tissue attached to?type of movement?
Attached to bones and moves the joints
Voluntary movement
Contracts easily and gets tired quickly
Characteristics of skeletal muscle tissue
Can contract voluntarily
Attached to bones of the skeleton and skin
Cells are ling and cylindrical with many nuclei and distinct stripes(striations)
What kinds of movement does smooth muscle tissue have and where is it found
Involuntary movement, contracts slowly and doesn’t get tired easily
Found in soft organs of body
Characteristics of smooth muscle tissue
Spindle shaped cells with a single nucleus
Found in the walls of hollow organs
Contractions are slow causing substances to be propelled forward in these organs
Where is cardiac muscle found and what type of movement does it have
Cardiac muscle makes up most of heart wall
Involuntary movement,it is strong and doesn’t get tired
Characteristics of cardiac muscle
Contracts involuntarily
Only found in heart
Consists if branching cells in striations
Cells contain only one nucleus with intercalated discs where they are joined
Ions can pass from one cell to another
