Muscle Tissue Flashcards
muscle CT hierarchy
epimysium –> perimysium –> endomysium
epi = around whole muscle - dense irregular
peri - around fascicle = dense irregular
endo = around the cell. - areolar (just blood and nerves around fibre - mostly reticular fibres)
structure of smooth muscle
intermediate filaments attach to dense bodies in criss cross manner, and rotate to “contract
actin attach to dense bodies
myosin attached to middle of actin
dense bodies made of actinin
structure of skeletal muscle
striated sarcomere: Z discs between sarcomeres - mad of actinin A band = all of myosin (incl. some actin) H zone = only thick I Band = only thin M line = middle of sarcomere titin links Z and M together
where are intercalated discs found and what do they have
cardiac muscle
desmosomes - bond to resist pulling apart - lots of contractions
gap junctions - electrical conduction/communication
purkinje fibres - specialised muscle cells with special connexins.
