Muscle tissue Flashcards
1
Q
smooth tissue
A
- individual spindle shaped cells
- can contract rhythmically
- less powerfully than skeletal muscle - in the skin, the walls of blood vessels
- in digestive and respiratory tracts
- can’t be controlled
- called involuntary muscle - don’t have striped
- called unstriped
2
Q
skeletal muscle
A
- attached to bones
- moves the skeleton
- has bands of long cells called fibres
- can contract powerfully
- but tire easily - can be controlled
- called voluntary muscle - fibres form a striped pattern
- called striped

Q
cardiac muscle
