muscle Flashcards
skeletal muscle cells
multinucleate cells with satellite regenerative cells
smooth muscle cell features
innervated by autonomic nerves
focal densities = intermediate filaments insert here, where contractile fibres, intermediate filaments and sarcolemma attach and intersect
dense bodies = where actin attaches, similar to Z line
caveloae = small invaginations, not very functional
cardiac myocyte cell features
ventricular = large, nonnuclear, bulk of muscle atrial = smaller than ventirucal SAN = very thin, less cellular structure
stimulation of smooth muscle in blood vessels of skin, GI, kidney, brain
respond to NA and adrenaline
sympathetic
vasoconstriction via alpha 1
stimulation of blood vessels in skeletal or cardiac muscle
catecholamines cause vasodilation
beta receptors
action of cGMP on smooth muscle
inhibits contraction
activates myosin light chain phosphatase
action of cAMP on smooth muscle
inhibits contraction
inhibits MLCK
action of NO in smooth muscle
produce cGMP
relaxation
smooth muscle - excitatory our inhibitory innervation
can be triggered to contract or relax by sym or parasym and depends on specific area with receptors present
