Multiple regression Flashcards
What is hierarchical regression?
Evaluates a block of IVs after controlling for other IVs, shows how much combined variance, which IVs explain most unique variance, and how much additional variance is explained after each IV is entered.
What is standard regression?
Suitable when unconcerned about order of entry, shows how much variance combined, and which IVs explain most unique variance.
What is stepwise regression?
SPSS enters variables in steps based on mathematical criteria. Semi-partial correlations used for forward method and in backwards, all predictors entered and compared and if not meeting criteria, removed.
What is r2 change?
Tells us how much additional variance if explained in a hierarchical regression
What is a small, mod, and large effect size according to cohen?
.01-.08 is small, .09+ is mod, and .25+ is large
What is independence of errors?
errors are unrelatred to each other
What is homoscedacity?
variance of residuals should be constant at each lvl of predictors
What is singularity?
a perfect correlation
How do you calculate the sample size you should have?
Overall model is number 750 plus 8k and individual predictors n> 104 plus k
