MANOVA Flashcards
What is box’s m?
tests that covariance/variance is equal across groups
What is different about a manova from an anova?
anova has one dv and multiple categorical ivs, manova has both multiple dvs and multiple categorical ivs
What is eta squared?
variance and effect size of the r/s
What do you need to perform a MANOVA
1 or more cat ivs, 2 or more continuous dvs, homogeneity of variance acroups groups and homogenity of variance in variance covariance , independent observations
What is power usually set to to decide sample size to get the approp power?
.80
What is gpower?
a website where you plug in the details and the power you want and it calculates the sample you need to get that
What is wilk’s lambada?
measures size of error, 0-1 where 0 is large diff and 1 is no diff
What are roy’s largest root and hotellings trace?
used for when assumptions are violated, difficult to interpret, hotellings is more robust and adds up eigenvectors whereas roys reports largest eigenvector and range from 0 to unknown variable that is less than total dvs
What is pilia trace?
0-1, where 0 is no diff and 1 is large diff, adds up eigenvectors
What to do when manova is sig?
if sig at multivariate lvl, it means the dvs as a group differ, to check which dv is most important remove as a dv and treat as a covariate
What is a mancova?
when we control for a variable as a covariate when doing a manova
What is a covariate?
a variable that is controlled for to see the difference in other variables when its effect is pulled out
