what is the multidisciplinary approach to health promotion (Simnett, 1955)
2 or more agencies working together to achieve a health gain, which working on their own, they could not achieve as effectively/ efficiently

Services should be re-orientated to refocus on upstream approach to prevent ill health

Can influence health via policies on education, transport, social services, housing and the local env.
They often work in partnership with local people, businesses, and voluntary orgs to re-generate deprived areas

Community development initiatives, have a bottom up approach, peer health educators and community champions.

The food industry will contribute to the funding of the national campaigns to promote +ve health information
e.g. consistent health messages in supermarkets like the 5 a day packaging to encourage consumption of 5 veg/fruit a day.
The govt. will work with the food industry to ensure that by early 2006, food labelling is clearer and more straightforward
The govt. will work with the farming and food industries to co-ordinate the action via. Food and health action plan (2005)

The govt. will commission a new service – health direct, which will provide an advice service on healthy choices for the public (2007)
