Multiculturalism
a policy term refering to the exceptions that all members of society have the right to equal access to services regardless of race, ethnicity, culture or religion
Assimilation
a policy term referring to expectation that Aboriginal people and migrants will shed their culture and become indistinguishable for the Anglo-Australian majority
Cultural Stereotypes
shared images of the members of an ethnic group that are often negative and are based on simplistic, over generalised and homogenous veiw of and ethnic group
Ethnospecific services
services established to meet the needs of specific ethnic groups or a number of ethnic groups
members of the groups are targeted clientele, so that these services are distinct from and odten run parallell with mainstream services
Ethnicity
how people define themselves and how others define them
Causes of illness
infections injuries, problem with the body’s systems
