History + other textbooks carry degrading stereotypes
Positive role models in history, art, music, literature of black + other ethnic minority groups frequently absent
Ethnocentric Curriculum- Hidden Curriculum
Enforces ethnocentrism through uniform, arrangements for changing and showering (conflict cultural demands for modesty), and timing of holidays + school assemblies (reflect Christian beliefs)
Culture Clash
Ethnocentrism contributes to low self esteem of some ethnic minority children
Cultural capital- education system predominantly white British, middle-class culture
