Biosphere
Define “cell”
- Smallest unit of life
- All living things are made of cells
Define “tissue”
- Many cells working together for a combined function
Define Organs
- Made of tissue
- Have many different functions
Examples: Liver, heart, brain, lungs
Define “Organ System”
- Many different organs working for a unified purpose
Examples: Digestive System, Respiratory system.
Define “Organism”
A single living “creature”
Made up of all of the above
Examples: Humans, Dogs, Fish, Bacteria
Define “Population”
Many of the same species living together
Can breed with each other
Examples: A school of fish, a pack of wolves
Define “Community”
Many different populations living together
Does not include abiotic factors (non-living)
Define “Ecosystem”
Same as community but with consideration of abiotic factors
Can be found in different regions across the globe
Examples: pond ecosystem, desert ecosystem
Define “Biome”
An area with many similar ecosystems
Example: Rainforest, Desert
Define “Biosphere”
Anywhere on our planet where organisms can live
