A

The July 7th (2005) bombers were British citizens who had lost their sense of allegiance to Britain and were prepared to kill because they felt society worked against them

Q

There can be racism within institutions

A

Prejudiced police officers can discriminate against certain ethnic groups
e.g. The murder enquiry of Stephen Lawrence, a black 18 year-old who was stabbed to death in an unprovoked racial attack
The police lacked effort to find and convict his killers. A report shows that the police had been discriminating against people from ethnic minorities

Q

What is an example of why community cohesion is important?

A

Without it different groups have their own agendas which can lead to violence
In 2001, white and Asian youths from communities isolated themselves off from each other, rioted, attacked and killed each other on the streets of Oldham, Burnley and Bradford
