Muhhamad Ali was a dedicated Muslim .He would pray 5 times a day to Allah and on Fridays he attended his local mosque for communal prayer. As a famous boxer he would pray to Allah for petition for a win before a match. In his house he had various aid’s to prayer so he could develop his own unique relationship with Allah, he had sacred beads, prayer mat and Qur’an (Muslims sacred text). Salat (prayer) was very important to him however he also preformed Du’kah (informal prayer- praying outside the set times for a special intention. He preformed preformed special rituals to show the importance of prayer in his life e.g. removal of shoes Rak’ha movements, wudu and facing towards the ka’ba in the Mecca while praying.At his funeral prayers were said and he was buried facing Mecca. An interfaith service ( people/leaders from faiths) was held in his memory and to celebrate life.
