MSRA: Acute Kidney Injury Flashcards
What is AKI stage 1?
Cr increased 1.5 to 1.9x baseline OR
Cr increases by 26 OR
Urine output less than 0.5ml/kg/hr for 6+ hours
What is AKI stage 2?
Cr increased 2.0 to 2.9 x baseline OR
Urine output less than 0.5ml/kg/hr for 12+ hours
What are the blood results in rhabdomyolysis?
Acute renal failure
Significantly elevated CK (5x ULN)
Myoglobinuria
Hypocalcaemia
Elevated phosphate (released from myocytes)
What is AKI stage 3?
Cr increased 3 x baseline+ OR
Cr increases to 354 OR
Urine output less than 0.3ml/kg/hr for 24+ hours
What are the urine sodium results in acute tubular necrosis?
Urine sodium is high (kidney can’t concentrate the urine so sodium is lost)
Low urine osmolality (v. dilute)
What are the criteria for detecting AKI?
Increase in Cr by 26 in 48 hours
50% increase in Cr in 7 days
UO less than 0.5ml/kg/hr for 6 hours
In children, eGFR decrease by 25% in 7 days
