Open fracture prophylaxis?

A

IV co-amoxiclav (or co-trimoxazole) + metronidazole

Start within 3 hours for max 72 hours

Acute septic arthritis / osteomyelitis?

A

Acute = IV flucloxacillin or vancomycin

Chronic = avoid empirical. If empirical indicated then flucloxacillin + metronidazole
=> allergic = metronidazole + doxycycline / cotrimoxazole

Treat for 6 weeks
