MS 3 Flashcards
How many muscle layers are in the forearm
Four
What are their names
- ) Pronator teres
- ) Palmaris longus
- ) Palmaris brevis
- ) Flexor carpi ulnaris
- ) Flexor carpi radialis
- ) Flexi digitorum superficialis
- ) Flexi digitorum profundus
- ) Flexor pollicis longus
- ) Pronator quadratus
What is a nerve present in the forearm
Median nerve
Artery and nerve present on the ulna side
The ulna artery and ulna nerve
Artery present on the radius
The radial artery
Where does the cephalic vein run
Comes from the side of the thumb
Runs along the radius/up the forearm
Into the lateral part of the antecubital fossa
Up in the groove between biceps and triceps
What nerves supply the anterior compartment of the arm
The musculocutaneous nerve
What does the radial nerve supply
- ) The posterior compartment of the arm
2. ) The posterior compartment of the forearm
What two nerves supply the anterior compartment of the forearm
- ) The median nerve
2. ) The ulna nerve (supplies the lateral half of the flexor digitorum profundus and the flexor carpi ulnaris)
Description of the pronator teres
Medial epicondyle to halfway down the radius and it pronates
Description of the palmaris longus
- Passes superficial to the flexor retinaculum into the triangle shape of fibrous tissue in the palm of the hand: palma fascia
Description of the palmar fascia
Small muscle that runs horizontally and attaches to the palma fascia
Description of flexor muscles
On either side of the hand. They attach to the bones of the hand. When they contract they flex the wrist
Description of flexor muscles
- Flexes the distal interphalangeal joint
- Flexes the proximal interphalangeal joint
Description of the flexor pollicis longus
Flexes the thumb
