Movement week 6 and 7 Flashcards
PROM treatment
when there is no need to maintain full joint range of motion
When AROM is limited by the following examples
fluctuating muscle tone, subluxation, pain, edema, fractures, joint disease, reduced mobility of scapula, and clavicle
Passive exercise
there is no muscle contraction,, not used to increase strength, purpose is to maintain ROM and prevent contractors, adhesion, and or deformity.
AAROM Exercise
Is an isotonic muscle contraction where the patient moves the joint through partial ROM. Goal is to increase strength of 1-4 muscle strength. Great opportunity to use bilateral UE tasks to assist with the exercise.
Transfer
Process of moving a client to one surface to another
Indications for stand pivot transfer
Ability to use one or both UE to assist in pushing to standing. Sufficient strength in one or both LE. Diagnosis TKR, generalized weakness, Therapist only provides minimal to standby assistance.
Lateral Transfer
Client unable to assume a standing position, concern about skin break down and abrasion on sliding board, ability to place wheelchair close to surface transferring, concern about maintaining equal weight bearing on both LE’s. Conditions orthopedic, or neurological conditions
Indications for transfer sliding board
Client unable to weight bear on LE’s, some trunk control balance, need to bridge space, paraplegia, quadriplegia, LE amputations, SCI
OOB
Out of bed orders
Weight bearing status
PWB, TTWB, FWB, WBAT, NWB
