-Sudden, shock-like contractions (like jerk when falling asleep)
DDx: Withdrawl, uremia, metbaolic, anoxic brain injury, Jakob-Creutzfeldt dementia
Tx: Antivonvulsants, Benzos
Myoclonus
-Ocular dystonic reaction. Blepharospams, periorbital twitches, protracted staring episodes.
-DDx: Side effect of neuroleptic Drugs
Tx: Stop causative agents, benadryl
Oculogyric Crisis
-Stiff contorted neck
DDx: Cerebral palsy, MS, PD, tremor, tardive dyskinesia
Tx: botox
Torticollis
Defect in abilty to perform voluntary mov’t. Any disorder characterized by unctonrolled involuntary mov’ts (tremor, chorea, dystonia, myoclonus, tics)
Dyskinesia
Syndrome of involuntary stereotyped mov’ts of face, mouth, tongue, trunk and limbs (facial tics, jaw mov’ts, worm-like tongue mov’ts, difficulty sticking out tongue).
Can be caused by Long term use of anytipyschotics
Tardive Dyskinesia
