Movement- Creeping Flashcards
Bauers reflex
Pressure on sole of foot causes ext of that leg and flexion of other leg
Protective head turning
Reflex to help breathe
Slight lift in midline
Beginning of neck ext
Head lift- primitive support
Uses shoulders to stabilize head (retract head)
Moves center of gravity down spine
Develop spinal extension
Head control on elbows
(Includes righting, support, and chain rxns)
Center of gravity moves down
Arms come forward
Hips lose some flexion
Weight more evenly distributed=more stable
Head control on hands
Center of gravity moves down spine
Legs more neutral (rather than abd and ER)
Helped by support reactions
Hands open up
Unilateral weight shifting eventually happens
Prone extension
Maintain prone ext with no help from extremities
Later develops into midline stability reactions
Pivoting
Turning and reaching for things
Adapts neck, trunk, hip ext
Combines midline ext with flexion, abd, add, IR, ER
Bilateral crawling
Pushing or pulling with hands
Unilateral crawling
Moving forward with total weight bearing on one side, then switching
Reciprocal crawling
Contralateral arm and leg movements on belly
Creeping
Needs strength to hold body up against gravity
Backward pushing usually comes first
Will fluctuate between hands and knees to hands and feet
