Movement Flashcards
1
Q
Straight Punch w/ advance
A
- HANDS lead motion, burst in immediately with feet
- Advance should be on a slight diagonal
- Attack as you advance (don’t just advance, you will leave yourself open to opponents counter).
MISTAKES:
- Huge advance
- Punching too early
- Heavy landing (stay light on feet)
2
Q
Straight Punches moving forward
A
- Same side foot steps forward slightly as hand punches
- step should add power to punch & should not be too big
* * This is different from the advancing step where we “burst” in” **
MISTAKES:
- Huge Advance
- Stepping too early ** punch and step should be simultaneous**
3
Q
Straight punches moving backward
A
- Same side foot steps back as hand makes the punch.
- Step should add power and not be too big.
MISTAKES:
- Huge retreat
- Stepping or punching too early ** punch and step should happen at the same time **
4
Q
Straight punch w/ retreat
A
- Retreat on a diagonal, send forward hand with punch
- Punch to head or body
- Use as a chance to do slight damage and prevent attacker from advancing.
MISTAKES:
1. Retreating first then punching (this is too late)
5
Q
Moving in Fight Stance
A
- Push off with back foot
- Open forward foot and close with the rear foot. Keeping them at a similar distance.
MISTAKES:
- Not closing enough with the back foot so that your stance becomes too wide (** make sure your rear foot follows**)
- STEPPING w/ the front foot rather than PUSHING OFF with the back foot (this will make the movement less explosive)
