Movement Flashcards
What is mechanical advantage?
Measures the efficiency of a lever
What is the resistance arm in mechanical advantage?
Distance between the load and the fulcrum
What is the effort arm in mechanical advantage?
Distance between effort and the fulcrum
How to calculate mechanical advantage?
Effort arm divided by resistance arm
What is a high mechanical advantage?
When the effort arm is longer then it’s load arm
What is a low mechanical advantage?
When the effort arm is shorter then its load arm
What is the first class lever?
When the fulcrum is in the middle
What is and second class lever?
When the load is in the middle
What is a third class lever?
When the effort is in the middle
What is the fulcrum?
A joint
What is the load? E.g as well
Bones or weights
E.g dumbbell
What is an effort? E.g aswell
Mostly muscles
E.g bicep
What does the Sagital plane allow?
Flexsion and extension
What does a transverse plane allow?
Rotation movements
What does a frontal plane allow?
Abduction and Adduction
How does the transverse axis go through the body?
Horizontally like table football
How does the longitudinal axis pass through the body?
From top to bottom
How does the sagital axis pass through the body?
Front to back
What does the sagital plane go with?
Transverse axis
What does the transverse plane go with?
Longitudinal axis
What does the frontal plane go with?
Sagital axis
